“Because Advent—real Advent—is not cozy at first, it’s cosmic..” ~Timothy Willard
These opening lines from my husband Tim’s new Advent Series, Oh Night Divine, beckoned me to pause and reflect on the coming season. The cosmic side of Advent is not something we always consider —but perhaps we should.
“The first two weeks of Advent aren’t about the baby in Bethlehem at all. Historically—and with some murkiness, but enough shape to trust—they’re about the Second Advent: the return of Christ the King, known as the parousia, or what I like to call the cosmic drama of humanity.
“Advent begins at the end of the story with longing and that brilliant, holy strangeness of living in a world not yet repaired.
“It is this cosmic side of Advent that grabs me more every year.”
I began listening to Tim’s new Advent Series, Oh Night Divine, yesterday and instantly knew I wanted to share it with you, my friends.
If you’re longing for warmth, wonder, and hope this Christmas season, this special Advent series is designed to help us rediscover beauty in the ordinary, slow down, and remember what really matters. To see the cosmic side of things.
Today’s post includes a short audio of Tim and I sharing the heart behind the series: why he wrote it, what hope means in this season, and how it might help you prepare for Christmas with deeper joy and wonder. I hope you listen to the audio post!
If you feel the need for quiet reflection and beauty that points beyond itself — then this might be just what your soul is craving.

Further still,
