I realized the other day that you all may not know that my husband, Tim, has a book releasing June 21: The Beauty Chasers: Recapturing the Wonder of the Divine.
We are so excited for this book to reach your hands. It’s the culmination of ten years of study on beauty. And I think you are going to truly love it.
I believe we need to live as beauty chasers in the world. And Tim does an amazing job of capturing why we need to live like beauty matters. It’s his manifesto on living life as a disciple of our Wonder-full Creator—Beauty itself.
If we slow down and look around this beautiful world of ours, we can discover a new way of living and being in this world —a chaser of beauty.
I wanted to share an excerpt from Tim’s most recent newsletter that describes what you will find in the pages of The Beauty Chasers:
“Chasing beauty is a way of life. And it’s a way of life that focuses on God first. If we can, for one moment, step out of the crazy pace of this world, and behold God in his wonderful creation, then we can reconnect with the gift of his love for us.
The created order is a gift from the Creator himself. Theologians for centuries have observed the created world and described it as God’s smiling face towards us or God’s reaching hand. Why would God be reaching out to us through creation?
Because he loves us and wants to woo us with beauty. Because he wants to teach us through the wonder of created things that he is the one who holds all together with his word. He’s the one who created it for us and for his glory.
When we rip ourselves away from the isolation that grips this world, we see again the wonder of God and the many ways he loves us.”
Most of the things I write about on Mend stem from what Tim and I learned together during our time in Oxford, England. It’s impossible to have a husband studying beauty in the works of C.S. Lewis and his enthusiasm and knowledge of what he’s learning somehow not rub off on you.
We spent so many days walking the Oxford countryside immersed in conversations centered around beauty. My eyes were opened to the importance of recapturing Wonder in our home and schooling. Who we are as a family stems from this book.
I hope you’ll pre-order it!
If you pre-order before June 21, 2022, you will receive access to Tim’s new eCourse THE WAYS OF WONDER: Five Practical Secrets to Help You Stay Hopeful, Grateful, and Soulful. I’ve been reading through this eCourse and it is so good!
Beauty will change us, if we let it. It will filter out into how we view those around us. It will change our perception of our current circumstances. It will breath life into things we once feared dead.
When we behold Beauty, it awakens all things new.
Will you join me on this journey of seeking beauty? And in the end, recapture the wonder of the Divine.
Much love,
Chris
